Alopias superciliosus (Bigeye Thresher Shark)


Here is an Alopias superciliosus (Bigeye Thresher Shark) jaw that I recently acquired. The jaw is 9" wide and 7.5" inches high. There is distortion in the lower jaw with curling on both ends.

Alopias superciliosus (Bigeye Thresher Shark) does not have symphyseal teeth.

Upper jaw symphysis:



Lower jaw symphysis:



I believe that Alopias superciliosus have two posterior teeth.

Upper jaw left and right side posterior teeth:



Lower jaw left and right side posterior teeth:



Alopias superciliosus have two anterior teeth on either side of the symphysis.

The upper jaw has 12 tooth files left and 12 tooth files right of the symphysis

The lower jaw has 12 tooth files left and 12 tooth files right of the symphysis

To get a complete feel for Alopias superciliosus jaws and teeth you would really need to look at a lot of different jaws from different localities.
